Angelina Jolie to become a professor at London School of Economics

LSE is probably the most prestigious university in London and one of the best in the UK and the world so it’s exciting to learn that Angelina Jolie will be a visiting professor at the university on a new masters course.
LSE announced that the course will bring together individuals dedicated to “developing strategies to promote gender equality and enhance women’s economic, social and political participation and security.”
The course, called Women, Peace and Security, will centre on the impact of war on women, gender and human rights and will be taught within LSE’s Centre for Women, Peace and Security which was launched last year by Jolie and William Hague (Former UK Foreign Secretary and Leader of the House of Commons).
Jolie said: “I am very encouraged by the creation of this master’s programme. I hope other academic institutions will follow this example, as it is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women’s rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict. I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations”.
The actress and director is well known for her humanitarian work and her efforts regarding advocacy for women’s rights, refugee rights and for ending female genital mutilation.
This sounds like an interesting opportunity and it is bound to be an enlightening course for those who enrol later this year.
